Amid the dust of the Berlin Wall's collapse, a stark, cold techno sound was forged. It ruled Berlin until its hard edges were stripped away in favor of minimal techno's lean layers and abstracted elements. Minimal developed, too, and its sparse percussion melded with polished grooves and pulsing synths to create the atmospheric, ethereal techno of contemporary Berlin. DEEP MATTER delivers precisely this sound – one embodied by labels like Steyoyoke, Crossfrontier Audio, and Stil vor Talent.

DEEP MATTER pulses with moody bass, melancholic pads, and crisp percussion, capturing the euphoric darkness of Berlin’s ethereal techno. Found sounds like empty cans and marbles provide texture, while reamped hand drums convey richness and depth for emotive soundscapes. Tuned drum sounds and production-ready patterns converge with sub-bass, drone presets, and analog synth pads to pack a powerful punch, and Berlin field recordings give the expansion authenticity.
